Although there are plenty of lakes close to Nashville where you can enjoy getting out on the water, there’s nothing quite like digging your toes in the sand and listening to the waves crash along the ocean shore. Fortunately, there are a number of great beaches just a day’s drive away that you can explore. Here is a round-up of some of the closest beaches to Nashville.

As one of the shortest drives away, Destin is a favored location for a beach getaway among the Nashville crowd. Popular attractions include the scenic 30A strip, the shops and restaurants at the Village of Baytowne Wharf (they even have free live music, as well as fun celebrations on holidays), go carts and other amusements at The Track, and shopping at the Silver Sands Premium Outlets. Another short drive away are the beaches of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. Take the family out for a day at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, enjoy a hike on the back country trails, or get your adrenaline pumping at the zipline and aerial adventure park. Of course, if you prefer to just relax, there are plenty of beaches to park a chair and enjoy the scenery.
